As the summer heat cranks up in the beautiful Sun Valley resort, so does the tension between ‘wolf lovers’ and ‘wolf haters’, with Idaho’s first legal wolf hunting season quickly approaching in the fall. The Phantom Wolves of Sun Valley documents the war over wolves taking place in the West, the result of a successful reintroduction of the species into the same area in which they were eradicated nearly a century ago. Made with the insider perspective of DeSiree’ Fawn, a fifth generation native to the Sun Valley area, who is determined to understand the conflict over wolves and the culture war it represents.
The Phantom Wolves of Sun Valley is the recipient of the Yosemite Film Festival’s Silver Sierra Award, The Accolade Competition’s Award of Merit, The Heart Breaker Award at the Film Festival of Colorado, and has screened at several other film festivals, including The Landlocked Film Festival, the Kansas International Film Festival, and DocuTah. The local Sun Valley premiere was a sold out success, with all 300 seats filled at Ketchum’s nexStage Theatre, leaving standing room only and many turned away at the door. The film was recently screened to packed audiences at the trendy Pete’s Candy Store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, The Flicks movie theater in Boise, Sun Valley’s famous Whiskey Jacques music venue, The Community Library in Ketchum and is an official selection at the first ever Sun Valley Film Festival.
